We found the land!

Hill of Almatret, Spain - October 2012

It's been such a journey since we started searching for the perfect place to develop our project. So many emails changed  photos viewed and descriptions of land on sale consulted. It was while in the middle of the Serra da Cantareira mountains in Brazil, living at the Community of Matutu that this plot of land in Spain came across on sale to us. After a couple of weeks negotiating with Miguel the owner, we agree to book a view with him. That made us so excited and because of this excitement we decided to leave Brazil 5 weeks earlier than we planned to head back to Spain and see the land.
We arrived in Madrid, stayed a couple of nights with our dear friend Maite and got into a night bus towards Lleida, the capital of Catalunya. We barely didn't sleep that night.
A few hours after our arrival we took another bus that would stop out side the town of Almatret where Miguel agreed to meet us. He was driving a Toyota 4x4 and with a warm welcome took us to see the land.

Happy day all around! We signed the deed.

Caspe, Spain - October 20012

A morning day in October, Greg, Raquel and me drove to Caspe, Spain from Zaragoza with our time scheduled at the Notaria for the signing of the land deed.
It all went so well!

Raquel's presence once more showed us to be extremely necessary, as we both had just a small knowledge of all the Spanish requirements and the language as well. Our lawyer is amazing and I'm happy to say she is becoming our first friend here!

We had time to see a little of Caspe, a old village in Aragon and even to experience a very particular situation in a pup after we did all the papers at the Notaria.

Our first month at the Finca!

We could not wait any longer to go and start doing anything at the land. For that we we to get a car that would get us there and back and arrange all the camping stuff. After a week, everything was done and we were ready to go!

We had the bless of having our first friend to come and stay with us. Katie, from England. We reminded us of our lives in Brighton, of our friendship circle and she helped so much during this time. She lifted our moods, made us coffee every morning and did a amazing job constantly sharing the dream with us! Not to say the amount of heavy duty work she done too!

O the first day we set up camping at the bottom of the hill, it was great having all our tents together around the fire and specially at night time, seeing all the stars so bright, and our faces illuminated by the moon shine.
On the next day, we got our working gears ready to make a path from where the car was parked till up the hill where the old ruin is. It took us the whole day, picking up weed, rosemary bushed, rocks and levelling the earth.

On the next day the clearance of the ruin was our task.
