Caspe, Spain - October 20012

One morning in October Greg, Raquel and Deva drove to Caspe, from Zaragoza, with our time scheduled at the Notaria for the final setting of negotiations and the signing of deed. It all went so well!

Raquel's presence was once more extremely necessary, as we both had only a small knowledge of all the Spanish requirements and the language as well. Our lawyer is amazing and I'm happy to say she is becoming our first friend here!
We had time to see a little of Caspe, an old village in Aragon, and even to experience a very peculiar situation in a bar where we went to celebrate the signing of the papers.

We were quite hungry, it was later than two in the afternoon, so we went in search of a tavern to find something to eat and drink, and celebrate our first step in creating the yoga village project.

We knew that anywhere we went we should be able to at least have some bread as a veggie option in a tapas bar, if we were very lucky there would even be tortilla.

So we stopped at one place, that looked nice. The bar looked like most of the traditional ones here, low lighting, red brick interior, games and cigarette machines in the corner, a big tv in the other and the counter with tapas and drinks.

We asked the woman that was serving if they had anything suitable for vegetarians,   the look on her face was a mixture of surprise, sadness and confusion. She looked over and over around the fridge, thinking about all the ingredients in each of the dishes. A man sitting at the bar with his friend, said the Russian salad would be fine, the woman looked at him with contempt "no it won't be fine" she retorted "russian salad has fish in it, fish is meat". The two men sitting next to us, drinking beer, could not resist and decided to open there mouths once again and this they said as a general fact: "There are two things  we do not have have here in Caspe one is vegetarians, the other is maricones (a pejorative word for gays).

Little did they know that two gay vegetarians were standing in front of them, and were about to become regular visitors of their quaint little town.

Anyway, we asked if the potato salad would be fine, got two of those and went to our table to eat.

We were happy all around, we cannot let the ignorance of others bring us down from such a pivotal moment in our lives.

Happy day all around! We signed the deed.
