The Yoga Village Project

The Yoga Village Project (YVP) is a new start-up social enterprise. It is in the North-East of Spain in the State of Aragon, and once built, it will be a self-sufficient Yoga Center. Based on green, renewable and eco-conscious methods the centre will be run on solar, wind and pedal power. The YVP will include a large vegetable garden and orchard, which will be planted following the methods of permaculture. The buildings will be very low impact, made from recycled materials where possible.

The founders have just bought a piece of land next to the River Ebro, 7KM away from the nearest village Almatret, an old Olive farm which has been undisturbed for the last thirty years, in a place of beauty which has been long forgotten by the majority of people apart from the few who live Almatret and the surrounding area. Surrounded by Pine trees, and stunning hills this place is one of peace and beauty.

What makes the YVP a social enterprise? The YVP is a business which does not make profit for the sake of it, but reinvests it in to a community. The YVP will have a fund available for aspiring Yoga practitioners who wish to learn to teach Yoga, but are unable to do so due to the cost of the course. The fund will also be available to three types of community out-reach programs: yoga, environmental and sustainability.

The founders of this have put their life savings in to the purchase of the land and are looking to crowd funding as an alternative to raise the capital needed to start the building and development of the Yoga center.
